As CEO of Moxyplanet, Susan leads the company’s corporate vision, blending creative innovation with global business acumen. Her expertise in international distribution and rights management enables clients to navigate the global content market strategically. In her role as CCO (a.k.a. Chief Creative Oracle), she works closely with partners to foster creative collaborations and produce content that resonates with audiences worldwide. She also oversees Moxyplanet’s creative direction for original content and ensures that every project meets the highest standards. Susan is committed to elevating the creative landscape and equipping businesses and individuals with the tools to succeed in the international content market.

Experience

Strategy & Creative Consulting (Moxyplanet)

Since co-founding Moxyplanet in 2017, Susan has played a pivotal role in helping clients navigate the global content market. Notably, she guided Tortuga Films and Animiki See Distribution in launching their international distribution arms. Her contributions included acquiring hundreds of hours of content, expanding global partnerships, and training staff on licensing and marketing strategies.

Susan’s work helped secure co-production deals and broadcast partners for high-profile projects, such as The Untold Tales of Tūtūteremoana (2023, Māori TV), an award-winning dramatic fantasy series from New Zealand, and Ghost Hunters of the Grand River (2022), a paranormal doc-series now in its third season on APTN (Canada).

Recently, Susan has collaborated with producer clients including BackRoads Entertainment (USA),  Simba Creative (Canada) and EMB Films (Austria) on international partnerships, rights and creative content strategy to expand their reach and opportunities.

VP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions | LGI Media

From 2014 to 2016, Susan worked with the Australian-based international distributor LGI Media, utilizing her expertise in global rights and content strategy to enhance LGI’s portfolio. She acquired original programs and served as a creative/executive producer on a range of projects, including The Fashion Hero (Amazon Prime) and Saving Sirga (Netflix, Animal Planet). Susan also played a key role in fostering relationships with leading international broadcasters and production companies.

Co-Founder, Head of Development & Co-Production | re:think Entertainment

At re:think Entertainment, Susan oversaw the development and co-production of original content, and the licensing of original documentary, factual, and youth series. Notable projects included Shreducation, a live-action youth series for Disney XD (USA) and Nickelodeon (Aus/NZ), expanding the company’s reach to international audiences.

Co-Creator, Writer & Producer | Exploring Horizons

Susan co-created, wrote, and produced the internationally successful travel series Exploring Horizons (Discovery International), which aired in over 150 countries. This marked the beginning of her long-term commitment to global content creation and her passion for telling stories with a unique point of view for a global audience.

Industry Leadership & Training

Susan is actively engaged in shaping the global content industry through her leadership roles, speaking engagements, and mentorship initiatives.

Board Service: Susan served on the board of CACE Canada (2022–2024), contributing to a policy proposal designed to support Canadian international distributors.

Speaking Engagements: She has participated as a panelist at major industry events, including the Whistler Film FestivalImagineNative, and DOC BC/YT/NT, where she shared insights on global content strategies and creative production.

Industry Training: Susan has facilitated training sessions for organizations such as the Indigenous Film Summit and the OYA Black Arts Coalition, helping producers and creatives build their business acumen and succeed in the global market.

Judging Industry Awards: She has twice served as a judge for the prestigious Realscreen Awards, evaluating excellence in non-fiction programming.

Through these efforts, Susan continues to empower creators and businesses while advocating for equity and innovation in the international media landscape.
